Title: Business License Needed for Independent Contractor
Post by: Celia Costarella on November 22, 2010, 06:38:03 PM
I am looking at working out of a Salon on Solano ave. Albany. The city says I need a business license. Even though the salon is taking a cut. I am considered a contract worker. Is this the policy in every city in CA or is it a city by city thing?

If you are hired as an employee you are working under the business license of the salon and don't need your own business license.  However if you are hired as an independent contractor you do  need a business license.
This is the same in all cities
